At The Kings Arms, we’re more than just a pub—we’re a community hub, a place to unwind, and a destination for delicious food, great drinks, and warm hospitality. We understand that you might have a few questions before visiting us, so we’ve put together this handy FAQ blog to help you get to know us better.

Where is The Kings Arms located? 

We’re located in the beautiful village of Temple Sowerby, just a stone’s throw from the Lake District and the historic market town of Penrith.

What are your opening hours? 

We’re open from 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM every day.

Our winter opening hours from October 1st to March 31st are:

Monday to Thursdays 11 AM – 10 PM

Fridays 11 AM – 11 PM

Saturdays 8 AM -11 PM

Sundays 8 AM – 10 PM

Do you serve food? 

Yes, our menu features a mix of traditional British pub classics and modern dishes, all prepared on-site with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. From hearty pies to succulent steaks, there’s something for everyone.  

Our menu is updated seasonally, so be sure to check here regularly.

The Kings Arms also has a specials board, so be sure to check it out on arrival for additional tasty dishes!

Are you family-friendly? 

Absolutely! We welcome families with children and have a kids’ menu to keep the little ones happy. 

If you need a highchair, just let us know.

There are nappy changing facilities available in our toilets.

Are you dog-friendly? 

Yes, The Kings Arms is very dog friendly; we love our furry friends! We welcome dog owners with amicable, well-behaved dogs, and we know that both enjoy our relaxed atmosphere and cosy fires. 

Just let us know at the time of booking whether you will be bringing a dog and we will have dog treats ready upon arrival. 

Do you have vegetarian or vegan options? 

Our menu includes a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes to cater to all dietary preferences. Just ask our friendly staff for recommendations.  

Can I walk in without a booking? 

You’re always welcome to walk in, but we highly recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment, especially during peak times.

Do you host events or private functions? 

We’d be delighted to host your event! From birthdays, christenings and anniversaries to coffee mornings, funeral teas, pre-shoot breakfasts and family reunions, we cater to all your event requirements from start to finish.

Does the pub have a beer garden? 

Yes, we have a lovely beer garden with plenty of seating for you to enjoy your drinks al fresco on sunny days. 

What’s on tap? 

We pride ourselves on our selection of real ales, craft beers, and ciders. Our taps feature a rotating selection of local and regional brews, so there’s always something new to try.  

Do you serve wine and spirits? 

Of course! Our bar is well-stocked with a range of wines, spirits, and cocktails to suit every taste.  

Do you offer accommodation? 

Yes, we have nine en-suite guest rooms with king-size or twin beds. Many of our spacious bedrooms have space for an additional ‘rollaway bed’ if required. 

All of our en-suite bathrooms have been newly refurbished. Six feature a walk-in shower, a new soft-close toilet, a large sink, and new flooring and lighting. Gorgeous amenities from Bath House are provided for your pleasure. The remaining three feature in-bath showers or a separate bath and shower unit.

Is there parking available? 

Yes, we have parking available on-site for your convenience.

Parking is free and right outside our building. 

Do you have Wi-Fi? 

Yes, we offer free Wi-Fi for our guests. Just ask our staff for the password. 

Can I fish in the area? 

Yes, we have our own private fishing beat on the River Eden, a short five-minute drive from The Kings Arms in the beautiful Eden Valley. We offer both day licenses and annual passes for use on our fly fishing beat.

What other activities are there to do near The Kings Arms? 

The area has a wealth of excellent walking, hiking, and cycling routes. 

We are surrounded by glorious countryside, lovely traffic-free country roads, lakes and fells, and picturesque villages.

Is the pub accessible for wheelchair users? 

We strive to make our pub accessible to everyone. Our ground floor is wheelchair-friendly, and we have accessible facilities available.

There are cobbles just outside the main entrance, but we can offer assistance when needed. 

Is there live music or entertainment? 

Yes, we host live music, pub quizzes and other events every month—keep an eye on our What’s On page and social media channels for exciting updates!

Can I order takeaway from the pub for my events?

We do take out breakfasts rolls as well as packed lunches. These are perfect if you are planning to explore the area.

While we focus on dine-in services, we’re always happy to discuss special requests.  Meals can be pre-ordered and collected from The Kings Arms.

Please note that we do not provide a home delivery service and you will need to arrange collection yourself.
