It’s hard to believe that a whole year has flown by since The Kings Arms reopened its doors in Temple Sowerby last April. And what a journey it’s been! Full of laughter, fun, community spirit, delicious food, and plenty of memorable moments.
Our Year in Highlights
Rebuilding the Community
One of the biggest achievements of the past year has been seeing The Kings Arms become the heart of Temple Sowerby once again. From live music nights and quiz nights to hosting funeral teas and darts leagues, the pub has become a place where everyone feels welcome. It’s been wonderful to see old friends reunite, and new friendships form over a pint or a meal.

Loren, a familiar face who’s been part of the pub for years, knows everyone and goes out of her way to make sure everyone feels at home.

Nicole & Robbie, who have been absolute stars since the day they joined us —leading the way, building a brilliant team, and keeping the pub running smoothly every single day.

Vikki and Thom, who keep our kitchen running and add wonderfully creative dishes to our menus every season.

Hitting our goal of being open every single day for a full year is no small feat, and the team has done it with dedication. It’s also been amazing to see so many positive reviews from our guests—whether it’s praise for the delicious food, cosy rooms, or the warm welcome from the staff, every bit of feedback has meant the world.
Challenges Along the Way
Of course, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing—building a strong team and keeping everything running takes hard work and perseverance. Nicole and Robbie have put a lot of time and effort into finding the right people, but now, with such a stellar team in place, it’s all been worth it!
